A fun Saturday amongst the peaks of the "other" Oberland!
We're setting an orienteering course in the wilds of the Züri Oberland -- this is a forgotten corner of Switzerland, nestled on the fringes of the Alps, and surprisingly serene and scenic. Travel on foot, or on mountain bike; compete solo or as a team; this is a beginner-friendly event but experienced runners/orienteers will still get more than they bargained for.
You'll be given excellent Swiss maps showing the location of all the Checkpoints and their point values (10-40 points per Checkpoint). It's up to you to visit as many -- or as few -- as you choose in the 5 hours the course is open. Because each racer decides how many Checkpoints to obtain, the challenge can be low or high depending on your experience, fitness, etc.

Comments: This is a fun, low-key event that is perfect for somebody looking to try an orienteering or adventure racing "type" of event for the first time. For experienced athletes, it can be a serious elevation and navigation workout with 3000+ m of ascent and 40+ k of total distance if one attempts all the Checkpoints on the course.

The winners in 2008 and 2009 were NOT able to clean the course, so we ensure there is plenty of terrain and challenge for all! 2009 winner was Swedish adventure racer Staffan Kallback; 2008 winner was ultra runner Christian "The Ibex" Schneider. For those competing as a team: this is not a relay so your team must stay together at all times!
Also note, those choosing to use mountain bikes will start with a significant point deficit to counter-balance their speed advantage.
